My name is Michael McDonnell and I'm a songwriter and musician. I've played in bands since the age of 13 and have always loved songs. I've played in bands as a bass player and it has taken me all over the world. I'm currently performing as a singer and guitar player in my own band, Good Luck Shop as well as playing bass guitar for a number of Toronto acts, most notably the Russian Gypsy band, Jumple.
This podcast was started to discuss the power of music and what it takes to write a song. Songs are so important and in this day and age, artists have to focus on so many aspects of being a musician. I was starting to worry that the true focus of being a musician and songwriter was being lost. I want to bring forward what it is that compels you to write a song.
I'm asking three questions: what have you done, what are you doing, and why do you do it?
